Paraffin sections from bronchial biopsies from pigs that were inhaled with sphingosine, 0.9% NaCl with 0.125% octylglucopyranoside (OGP) as control or left untreated were stained with TUNEL to determine cell death. The results revealed that inhaled sphingosine did not induce any cell death. Shown is the quantitative analysis of TUNEL stainings of a total of 1200 cells per group.
